The Lake in the Hills Village Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday as a committee of the whole to discuss amendments to the zoning ordinance in relation to business signs.
According to the agenda packet, the proposed sign amendments would offer greater consistency. One aspect is in relation to window signs for businesses. A memo included within the packet said enforcement of the maximum signage allowed has been a challenge. To fix this, it is proposed that the language state the proper measuring standards and sign placement. The agenda packet notes that the area maximum for window signs is currently at 25 to 35 percent. These requirements were set for security and aesthetic reasons.
Also to be discussed is measures that relate to what structures cannot have signs attached to them.
It was recommended by staff that a hearing be held before the Planning and Zoning Commission and that the finalized amendments be presented to the Village Board on April 26.
