The McHenry Finance and Personnel Committee held an initial discussion regarding the city's Capital Improvement Program (CIP) for the 2016-17 fiscal year at its Jan. 11 meeting.

The program typically makes the sidewalks and streets a top priority within the plan. At the time of the meeting the program proposal also reflected the recent approval of additional funding from the Council of Mayors in order to support the improvement project at Bull Valley and Curran Road. In the presentation of the plan, all projects over the course of five years were presented with the first year’s projects marked as priority items.

City staff tasked with developing the program sought feedback through the development process. Through this process, the committee recognized that the numbers for the first part of the CIP will be closer to actual costs. One member had submitted suggestions and questions via email prior to the session.
