Crystal Lake ranked 590th in state in lottery ticket sales for January 2016

The City of Crystal Lake had the 590th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of January 2016 -- up 45 spots from its December ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Crystal Lake was $20.98 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the McHenry Times, Crystal Lake generated $848,780 in net sales from its 28 lottery retailers in January 2016, compared to $584,879.50 in January 2015.

The City of Crystal Lake is in McHenry County, and has a population of 40,448, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Bull Valley, Prairie Grove, Woodstock, Lake in the Hills, Cary, Algonquin and Lakewood.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in January 2016 was $32,739.37.

Crystal Lake's top lottery retailer is Crystal Mart located at 35-1 Berkshire Dr, Crystal Lake, IL 60014.

Crystal Mart generated 10 percent of Crystal Lake's January 2016 lottery ticket sales and 2 percent of McHenry County's sales that month, which was $4,485,295.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in McHenry County in 2015 were Richmond, Wonder Lake, Harvard, Marengo and Woodstock.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
