Algonquin candidate says 'no' to negative campaigning

Vote2(1000)

Algonquin Township trustee GOP candidate Melissa Victor recently expressed her intent to run her campaign without “negativity and lies” in a withdrawal from the Cary Grove Politics page on Facebook.

Victor is a long-time resident of Cary and is heavily involved in the community through volunteerism in addition to her work as a part-time lecturer at the College of DuPage. She is in the running alongside other Algonquin Township trustee GOP candidates Rachael Lawrence, Dan Shea and David Chapman.

"I wanted to inform you all that I will no longer partake in the negativity and lies that have been stated on this "Cary Grove Politics" page,” Victor wrote. “I am looking forward to serving the community, along with the other three candidates I endorse: Dan Shea, Dave Chapman and Dominique Miller. Please get out and vote on April 4th and thank you for all of your positive support the past two months!"

Victor characterizes her bid for office as a signal of her desire to further invest in the local community and its future. She is the grant chairperson for the Cary Education Foundation, a board member of the Cary Park District Foundation, the vice president of the Cary Police Academy Alumni and an active participant in a range of local fundraising efforts.

She is married to a local police detective and together they have three children.
