Prairie Grove Consolidated School District 46 Board of Education met May 2.

The Mission of Prairie Grove Consolidated School District 46, in partnership with parents and

the community, is to cultivate lifelong learners as they empower themselves to be compassionate

and progressive students, citizens and leaders of the world.

Joe Ricciardi called the Special Board of Education meeting to order on May 2, 2017 at 6:00

p.m. with the following Board members present:

Anna Olas, Margaret Ponga, Joe Ricciardi, Steve Sebastian, Khushali Shah

Absent: Laura Barker and Barclay Butler

Quorum Present

Also present: Kevin Werner, CSBO; Joan McAvoy, Ryan Noonan, Sherry Bennett, Mary and

Don Noonan, Paulina Levy, Kathy Krepel, Sue Peterson, and Trish Meyers

The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all.

Public Comments

Sue Peterson, former parent, former employee, and taxpayer, wanted to thank Laura Barker and

Margaret Ponga for serving on the Board of Education for four years. She wanted to thank them

for their time, hard work and dedication to Prairie Grove School District 46.

Review of Results

President Ricciardi reviewed results of the April 4, 2017 School Board Election. There were four

vacant seats, the canvassed results were published on April 20, 2017. Steve Sebastian, Ryan

Noonan, Sherry Bennett and Anna Olas are the new Board Members for Prairie Grove School

District.

Motion to Incorporate the Names of the Official Winners of the April 4, 2017 Election

into the Official Minutes of the Board of Education

Motion: Khushali Shah moved, seconded by Joe Ricciardi to incorporate Sherry Bennett,

Ryan Noonan, Anna Olas, and Steve Sebastian as the official winners of the April 4, 2017

election into the official minutes of the Board of Education.

Board discussion: Board member Ponga wanted to share some thoughts regarding her time here

at Prairie Grove. She has been part of the Prairie Grove community since 2003 and has many

memories of the school. Memories of teachers, of accomplishments around the school and of her

service on the Board. This is a bittersweet time for her as her daughter will be graduating 8th

grade on June 5th.

Following the motion to incorporate the winners, the current Board President, Joe Ricciardi,

relinquished the position of Board President.

Motion to Appoint President Pro Tem

Kevin Werner asked for a Motion to appoint Joe Ricciardi President Pro Tem.
