Texas Southern made its pitch to McHenry County College right-handed pitcher Peyton Schneider without even knowing it.
Schneider said he was sold after he watched the Division 1 Tigers take on LSU in the NCAA Division I baseball tournament.
“I wanted to be part of the way they competed,” Schneider said via his Twitter account. “For being a smaller D-I school, I love the way the coaching staff had their players competing as hard as they could. Especially against a team like LSU, where, obviously, they’re the underdogs."

Texas Southern won the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament on its way to a fourth NCAA tournament berth in school history. The Tigers have made it to the tournament twice in the last three seasons and finished last year with a 20-34 record.
Schneider also fielded Division II offers from Winona State and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
He said the Texas Southern staff has already told him there is a lot of work to do and that he should be prepared to get to it quickly.
At MCC, Schneider started seven games, going 5-1 with a 2.09 ERA. He notched 42 strikeouts and gave up only nine walks.
The sophomore was also named NJCAA Division II Player of the Week in April.
