Six female students at McHenry County College (MCC) have earned Education to Empowerment (E2E) scholarships, which are designed to empower women through education funding and mentorship, according to a press release.
The scholarships are sponsored by the Friends of MCC Foundation and supports students as they fulfill their potential and work toward economic independence. This year’s recipients will transfer to four-year institutions in the fall of 2018, where they will continue to receive scholarship support and be part of the E2E community.
This year’s winners are Kate Jane Marie Birr, who plans to get a degree in pastry arts and teach others about baking; Madeline Padjen, who wants to pursue a degree in nursing; Julia Marie Janeczko, who wishes to become a pediatrician; Sidney Lynn Connor, who will pursue a career in neurology; Amber Anne Steiger, who wishes to be an English professor; and Molly Grace Schwieger, who plans to become a counselor.
“We’re excited to award six E2E scholarships this year – more than any previous year,” E2E Executive Chair Nancy Wenzel said in the press release. “We’re so proud of the 2017 recipients for setting high standards for themselves – both academically and personally. Their talents, skills, and work ethic will benefit whatever industries and communities they land in.”
