Cost of college went up for all students at Cosmetology & Spa Academy

Tuition and fees rose 28.6 percent for 2017-18 at Cosmetology & Spa Academy, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois students paid $18,000 to attend the private for-profit school this year $4,000 more than the $14,000 charged for 2016-17.

Data shows 86 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 86 students received grants or scholarships totaling $352,804 and 112 students took out student loans totaling more than $836,677.

Including all undergraduates, 161 students used grants or scholarships totaling $637,832. Another 191 took out $1.37 million in federal student loans.
