Harvard CFPD responds to 59 fires in 2017

Harvard Central Fire Protection District responded to 125 calls in 2017 - 83.8 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Harvard included 59 fires - 31 structure fires, six vehicle fires and 22 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $459,400 in fire loss - or about $7,786 per fire.

The department also received 64 false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related injury. Additionally, one fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.

The Harvard Central Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $1,072,401 in 2017.
