CITY OF McHENRY: 2018 Fall Brush Pickup Program

Local gov stock 01

City of McHenry recently issued the following announcement.

The City of McHenry’s Fall Brush Pickup Program will begin on October 1, 2018 for the entire City.

All residents must have their brush out by 7:00 a.m. on October 1, 2018.

Crews will visit each street once and continue until they have gone through the entire City.

No callbacks will be made.

Note: This program is for tree material only; yard waste belongs in the Yard Waste Collection Program provided by the City of McHenry’s waste hauler. When placing branches at the curb, make sure they are not in the street and that all branches are as long as possible and no more than 5 inches in diameter. Residents are advised to place their brush on the parkway parallel to the street no later than October 1stat 7:00 a.m. This program is intended for larger tree branches resulting from trimming or storm damage. No stumps or roots will be taken. The program is for residential properties only.

If you have any questions, please call the Public Works Department at 815-363-2186.

 Missed Brush Pickup?

The City has two options for disposing of brush outside of the brush pickup program:

  • Yard waste pick-up: Residents can bundle their branches and put them out with their yard waste. Branches must be bundled to a maximum of 5ft in length, and maximum of 2ft in diameter and a maximum of 50 pounds per bundle with a pre-paid yard waste sticker attached to each bundle. This program began the first full week of April and will end the first full week of December.

  • Yard waste drop-off: Residents can bundle their branches and bring them to the yard waste drop off at Knox Park on Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. until noon. Branches must be bundled to a maximum of 5ft in length, and maximum of 2ft in diameter and a maximum of 50 pounds per bundle. There is no charge for this service, but the vehicle used to transport the material must display a current City vehicle sticker. This program began the first full week of April and will end the first full week of December.
