HUNTLEY COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT 158: Heineman Middle School Presents Disney’s “Mulan JR.” October 26 & 27

Disney

Huntley Community School District 158 issued the following announcement on Oct. 5.

Travel to the mountains of ancient China as Heineman Middle School brings, Mulan JR., one of Disney’s most beloved legends, to life.

After a failed meeting with the village matchmaker, Mulan knows that she has brought dishonor to her family. But when Mulan’s father Fa Zhou is unexpectedly called to the army having no son to join for him, Mulan decides to run away from home to go in his place. With very little hope left to save the family name, Mulan’s ancestors send the disgraced dragon, Mushu, to bring Mulan home safely. Fighting for her family’s honor, Mulan faces avalanches and war in an effort to save the Emperor and the Kingdom.

Heineman’s production features a cast of 100 students, grades 6-8, and is co-directed by HMS choir teacher Emily Moore and band instructor Pam Jorgensen. Lighting and sound design and set design and construction is by PAC technical production manager, Nathan Knapke who will also oversee a crew of 14 students working to take audiences to ancient China.

A heartwarming celebration of culture, honor and a fighting spirit, Mulan JR. teaches a valuable lesson of determination and balance. The score includes favorites like “Reflection,” “Honor to Us All” and “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” as well as new songs.

Performances take place on October 26 at 7:00 p.m., and October 27 at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. in the Huntley District 158 Performing Arts Center located at Huntley High School.
