Nowak, Acosta among winners in McHenry County Board races

The results of the McHenry Board races have been released.

Republican Robert Nowak and Democrat Michael Vijuk have been declared winners in the County Board District 1 race. With 100 percent of the precincts reporting, Nowak had 38.07 percent of the vote with a total of 11,309 votes. Vijuk had 33.53 percent of the vote with a total of 9,960 votes. Republican Christopher Spoerl, who was also in the running, received 28.41 percent of the vote with a total of 8,440 votes.

Republican Carolyn Schofield and Democrat Suzanne Ness have been declared winners in the County Board District 2 race. With 100 percent of the precincts reporting, Schofield had 36.74 percent of the vote with a total of 10,247 votes. Ness had 36.13 percent of the vote with a total of 10,075 votes. Republican Josh Howell, who was also in the running, received 27.13 percent of the vote with a total of 7,565 votes.

Republican Lori Parrish and Democrat Kelli A. Wegener have been declared winners in the County Board District 3 race. With 100 percent of the precincts reporting, Parrish had 38.47 percent of the vote with a total of 11,888 votes. Wegener had 31.82 percent of the vote with a total of 9,832. Republican Joseph Gottemoller, who was also in the running, received 29.71 percent of the vote with a total of 9,181 votes.

Democrat Carlos J. Acosta and Republican John Jung Jr have been declared winners in the County Board District 5 race. Other candidates in the running were Republican Michael R. Rein and Democrat Frank Wedig. With 100 percent of the precincts reporting, Acosta had 27.04 percent of the vote with a total of 8,126 votes. Jung Jr had 26.28 percent of the vote with a total of 7,898 votes. Rein received 25.20 percent of the vote with a total of 7,572 votes while Wedig received 21.49 percent of the vote with a total of 6,457 votes.

Republicans Michele Aavang and Larry W. Smith have been declared winners in the County Board District 6 race. Other candidates in the running were Democrats Larry Spaeth and Buffy Brasile. With 100 percent of the precincts reporting, Aavang had 31.21 percent of the vote with a total of 10,814 votes. Smith had 29.61 percent of the vote with a total of 10,261 votes. Spaeth received 20.09 percent of the vote with a total of 6,962 votes while Brasile received 19.09 percent of the vote with a total of 6,616 votes.
