Huntley Community School District 158 issued the following announcement on Aug. 13.
Huntley 158 Families,
We can’t wait to welcome students in grades 1-12 back tomorrow morning, and our ECC and kindergarten students on Thursday!
If your student(s) will be riding a bus tomorrow, we want to share with you a few reminders:
- Please double-check PowerSchool to confirm your bus route and bus stop information, especially if you have not checked in some time.
- Please remember that bus delays are extremely likely in during the first few weeks of the school year! Student safety is always our top priority. Part of that commitment means that as students and drivers get used to their routes in the early days of the new school year, we will be taking all the time necessary to ensure that students are getting on and off the right bus.
- This means that bus routes are likely to experience significant delays of a half-hour or more for the first few days of school, and potentially into the first few weeks of school. We understand that such delays can be inconvenient for families, but ensuring that every student gets on and off the right bus will be our priority.
- Kindergarten families: please note that at the start of the school year we require all kindergarten bus riders to be escorted home from their stop by a parent/guardian. If parents wish to designate an individual other than a parent who will be authorized to escort their child home, this information must be shared with your driver. Please understand that this policy will be enforced. In the event that a kindergarten student does not have a designated escort home, the child will remain on the bus and will be returned to their school to be picked up by a parent/guardian.
Sincerely,
Laura Hooper
