Cary School District 26 Board of Education met Aug. 3.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

1. Organization

Procedural: 1.1 Call to Order

Mr. Bridge called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Procedural: 1.2 Pledge of Allegiance

Procedural: 1.3 Roll Call

Members present: Mr. Bridge, Mr. Janczak, Mrs. Darling, Mrs. Jette, Mr. Demkowicz, Mrs. Potter, Mrs. Hartman

2. Community Input

Procedural: 2.1 Public Participation

Justine Lamoso - 401 First Street - Ms. Lamoso - expressed her concern for the Fully Remote Return to School Plan.

Kim Guerentz - 846 Pin Oak - introduced her son, who as a student expressed his concern for the Fully Remote Return to School Plan.

Scott Coffey - 496 Wentworth - Mr. Coffey asked the board to consider to not follow other districts in McHenry County with a Fully Remote Return to School Plan.

Alex Davis - Alex Davis - 6304 Lakeshore Drive - expressed his concerns for the Fully Remote Return to School Plan.

Bridget Hills-Yoder - Ms. Hills-Yoder expressed her concern for the Fully Remote Return to School Plan.

3. Board Discussion and Action

Action, Discussion: 3.1 D26 Return to School Plan and Considerations for Starting the School Year

Recommended motion to approve the D26 Return to School Plan and Considerations for Starting the School Year as presented.

Dr. Coleman reviewed the D26 Return to School Plan and Considerations for Starting the School Year and answered questions from the Board.

Dr. Thomas reviewed the D26 Return to School Plan and Considerations for Starting the School Year and answered questions from the Board.

Dr. McCall reviewed the D26 Return to School Plan and Considerations for Starting the School Year and answered questions from the Board.

Mr. Bridge asked for a motion to approve the Return to School Plan to a Fully Remote Learning Model for all students to start the 2020-2021 school year for a period of 6 weeks through October 2nd as presented.

Motion by Melinda Hartman, second by Kathryn Potter.

Yes: Mr. Janczak, Mrs. Darling, Mrs. Jette, Mrs. Potter, Mrs. Hartman

No: Mr. Demkowicz, Mr. Bridge

Motion Carries

4. Adjourment

Meeting adjourned at 8:26 p.m.
