Illinois Sen. Don DeWitte (R-St. Charles) presented SB73 during testimony in a legislative session. SB73 aims to amend the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Article of the Illinois Pension Code.
The heart of the bill stipulates that payment of ordinary disability benefits be made at least monthly instead of in intervals of not more than 30 days.
"This was a bill filed last year on behalf of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District. It is purely an administrative clean-up bill. It allows them to streamline their payroll processes so that they can process pension benefits at the same time they process normal payroll in a given month," DeWitte explained to the session attendees.
DeWitte also informed everyone that there are no current objections to the bill thus he is now seeking support for it to be passed immediately. After taking note of DeWitte's testimony presenting SB73, Illinois Senator and Personnel and Pensions Committee Chairman Robert Martwick (D-Chicago) asked the members of the Senate for any objections.
After encountering no opposition to the bill, Martwick moved the bill to become part of the Senate's technical cleanup matters.
