City of Woodstock Public Library Board of Trustees met Nov. 11.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

CALL TO ORDER

Meeting was called to order by Secretary Robert Laurie at 7:31 pm.

MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS:

• Discussion and Vote on the Regular Minutes from September 9, 2021 Marybeth Urbin moved to approve the minutes of the September 9, 2021 regular meeting as presented. Christy Johanson seconded, and the motion carried.

PUBLIC COMMENT ON NON-AGENDA ITEMS: None.

COMMUNICATIONS:

Nick Weber informed the Board that Trustee Al Fyfe had resigned.

LIBRARY EXPENDITURES:

• Discussion and Vote on the September 2021 Building Fund and Operating Fund Expenditures

Jim Hurley moved to approve the September 2021 combined Warrant of operating and building expenditures, as presented. Marybeth Urbin seconded, and the motion carried.

• Discussion and Vote on the October 2021 Building Fund and Operating Fund Expenditures

Robert Laurie moved to approve the October 2021 combined Warrant of operating and building expenditures, as presented. Jim Hurley seconded, and the motion carried.

LIBRARIAN’S REPORT:

Nick Weber presented the librarian’s report, a copy of which is attached.

NEW BUSINESS:

• Staffing, city and library: Open front desk positions are being filled, and scheduling at the Reference Desk is returning to normal. Staffing is still difficult, particularly in the reference department.

• Update on anticipated hours of operation: See attached timeline.

• Discussion and vote on updated Reconsideration of Library Materials Policy: Robert Laurie moved to approve the updated Reconsideration of Library Materials Policy. Gayle Hoch seconded, and the motion carried.

• Review of Witches and Wizards of Woodstock 2021: Nick Weber provided a summary of the recently held event. Despite poor weather, turnout was good and the event will be held again in 2022. The event now has its own website.

• Creative Woodstock (aka, OCH Art Center) update: Nick Weber presented the concept to the City Council a couple of weeks ago. Early next year space will be built out, and a manager hired.

• Review, discussion and vote on Illinois Libraries Present IGA

Christy Johanson moved to accept the above agreement. Marybeth Urbin seconded, and the motion carried.

• Review of Chapters 1-4 of Serving our Public 4.0: Standards for Illinois Public Libraries: Reviewed and completed.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

• Building Update:

o Rotunda Roof: Materials are finally available, but work may have to be postponed until spring.

o Front Door: The new door is in place and working properly.

o Painting: This year’s painting is finished. The remainder of the building will be painted next fiscal year.

• COVID-19 update: All existing policies remain in place, with no imminent changes expected. State vaccination mandates are likely to be put in place.

ADJOURNMENT:

Gayle Hoch moved to adjourn the meeting at 9:02 pm. Christy Johanson seconded, and the motion carried.
