Tony Colatorti for McHenry County Sheriff has submitted the following press release:

Tony Colatorti submitted over 1,200 signatures from McHenry County residents on Monday, the first day of filing, in Woodstock, ensuring residents have the opportunity to vote for a sheriff candidate with the leadership and executive experience necessary to lead as sheriff on day one.

“The job I’m running for is too important to entrust to someone who admits he’s not ready,” Colatorti said after filing. “Crime doesn’t wait while a new sheriff undergoes on-the-job training. I’m ready to lead on day one—I will work collaboratively with the community and local law enforcement agencies to make sure Chicago crime and politics stop at the McHenry County line.”

Instead of a career spent behind a desk like his opponent, Colatorti has spent 22 years in law enforcement out on the streets keeping McHenry County families safe. He’s introduced new and innovative tactics, worked collaboratively with the community, and led “in the field and from the front” as chief of police in two departments.

“You can’t lead from an office chair,” Colatorti said. “We need a strong sheriff, not a timid bureaucrat. As sheriff, I’ll stand side-by-side with my deputies in the community. This is how we were able to gather over 1,200 signatures—by being out in the community, talking to voters, and sharing our message of the importance of a sheriff who is an experienced leader—and I’ll take this same approach as an elected leader.”

Colatorti is running for sheriff to fix the culture in the sheriff’s office, make sure McHenry County remains safe, and provide the strong leadership the county deserves.
