Analysis: Harvard administrators rank 741st in state for average pay

Administrators in Harvard Community Unit School District 50 earn an average of $83,178 per year, ranking 741st out of 864 districts in Illinois, according to a McHenry Times analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The 2020 average is 9.8 percent lower than in 2016 and 5.1 percent lower than in 2011. District administrators make 25.3 percent less than the state average of $111,293.

Administrator salaries depend on the district's size, location and resources, as well as the individual's level of experience and education, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

The Harvard School District in Mchenry County enrolled 2679 students in 2019-2020. There is an average of 115 students for every administrator, compared to a statewide ratio of 171 to 1.
