U.S. Congressman Bill Foster, who represents Illinois' District 11, recently toured Crystal Lake's first hospital. This hospital will bring much needed hospital services closer to home for District 11 residents and create 150 new local jobs.

"This past weekend, I toured Crystal Lake’s first hospital, Mercyhealth, with Kelli Wegener, a member of the McHenry County Board," Foster wrote in a July 18 Twitter post. "This hospital and physician clinic will ensure countless residents in IL-11 can get quality care close to home."

According to Patch, development on Mercyhealth hospital, Crystal Lake's first hospital, began in June 2021 and cost approximately $105 million dollars. The new hospital is located at Three Oaks Road and Route 3 is scheduled to open its doors on July 24. Medical services offered by the hospital include family medicine, orthopedics and sports medicine, gastroenterology, general surgery, cardiology, cancer care, infusion therapy, chronic pain services, physical therapy, and lab and X-ray services. The facility will feature an emergency room, four operating rooms, 13 private inpatient and intensive care suites, surgery suites and diagnostic services.

"Most importantly, we are excited to give Crystal Lake residents access to emergency services, which have been severely lacking in Crystal Lake for decades," Mercyhealth President and CEO Javo Bea previously said at the hospital's groundbreaking. "We have been privileged to provide high-quality physician and outpatient care to area residents for many years, and we are excited to take our services to the next level with this new multi-specialty clinic and hospital."

Besides much needed medical services, the hospital is projected to create 150 new local jobs when it opens.
