Village of Fox River Grove Police Pension Fund Board met Jan. 28
Here are the minutes provided by the board:
1. Meeting called to order at 5:36 p.m. by Eric Anderson.
2. Roll Call - Present were Eric Anderson, Matthew Schumann, George Koester, Don Koss, Mike Miller by phone. Rowen Conley as finance and Tom Radja (attorney).
3. Approval of Minutes from the October 14, 2024 meeting. Motion was made by Schumann to accept the minutes, seconded by Koss. In the vote, all approved. Minutes were approved.
4. Finance Report 9/1/24 through 12/31/24:
a. Village Report - Village contributions of $177,000 was actually two separate quarterly contributions, but the Q3 was missed and added for Q4. Stachnik pension was officially transferred in Q4 as well.
b. Approval of bills for payment: Approval of bill for Radja Collins Law. Anderson motioned to approve, Schumann second. All aye.
c. Approve annual pension COLA - Schumann motion, Koss second, all aye.
5. Old Business
a. IPOPIF transfers are going well. We discussed that we will continue our monthly $150,000 IPOPIF deposits as well as transferring any money received from the village to IPOPIF immediately. Possibly check with Nicole about emails still going to Coletti, we need those to go to Don instead. Probably can be changed with minutes showing the new board.
6. New Business:
a. Mike Miller is no longer eligible to be on the board due to COVID-era allowances of dial-in members of Open Meetings Act expiring (he will need to email to resign). We will attempt to find a new retired or disabled member to fill that spot, but are unlikely to do so.
b. Could not add to agenda due to notification less than a week from meeting - but new member of the force is collecting a pension from his previous role. We will need to approve or deny entry into our pension fund as well. Max benefit is 2.5% of 8 years of service, and IL statute is unclear on the topic. Topic has different outcomes in various departments around the state, but this could be vital for recruiting of our force. Set up special meeting to vote.
7. Attorney Report:
a. Tom Radja provided commentary on IL statute regarding of re-entry to active pension fund while collecting another. Courts and boards have been split due to the lack of clarity in statute.
8. Anderson motioned to adjourn the meeting at 6:43 p.m. Second Schumann, all voted aye. NEXT MEETING: Special on Thursday February 13th, 2025 at 5:30 p.m.
