State Senator Craig Wilcox has announced that libraries and library districts within the 32nd Senate District will receive a total of $30,407.76 through state library grants.
The funding allocations are distributed among several districts: Antioch—Antioch CCSD 34 ($2,217.81), Emmons Grade School District 33 ($850.00), Grass Lake School District 36 ($850.00); Cary—Cary CCSD 26 ($1,954.08); Crystal Lake—Crystal Lake CCSD 47 ($6,010.92), Prairie Grove CCSD 46 ($850.00); Ingleside—Grant CHSD 124 ($1,505.39); Johnsburg—Johnsburg CUSD 12 ($1,377.06); Lake Villa—Lake Villa CCSD 41 ($2,016.92); McHenry—McHenry CCSD 15 ($3,408.14), McHenry CHSD 156 ($1,913.37); Richmond—Nippersink School District 2 ($946.07); Spring Grove—Fox Lake Grade School District 114 ($850.00); Wonder Lake—Harrison School District 36 ($850.00); Woodstock—Woodstock Community Unit School District 200 ($4,808.21).
“Our libraries play a crucial role in providing our community with access to information and opportunities to expand their knowledge,” stated Wilcox. “By updating libraries to meet the evolving needs of residents, we ensure they remain vital educational resources for everyone.”
The grants will be used for the acquisition of library books, e-books, audiobooks, periodicals, multilingual materials, technology, and programs. The funding given to each school district is calculated based on a statutory formula, allocating $0.885 per student.
Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias emphasized the importance of this funding, stating, “Illinois students deserve to have access to quality library resources, including learning materials, books and online services at our public schools. Libraries serve as places of knowledge, learning and discovery and this funding will help equip them to educate and inspire our future generations.”
