State Senator Craig Wilcox (R-McHenry), a retired U.S. Air Force colonel, is inviting families in the 32nd Senate District to participate in an upcoming Veterans Day display at the Illinois Capitol Rotunda. The “Honoring All Who Served” exhibit will showcase photos and personal stories of Illinois veterans from October 28 through November 13.
Wilcox emphasized the importance of community involvement in honoring military service. “The ‘Honoring All Who Served’ exhibit stands as a meaningful recognition of the courageous individuals who have served our nation,” said Wilcox. “By involving families, we not only pay tribute to their loved ones, but also ensure that their stories of service and sacrifice are acknowledged and preserved for all who visit the State Capitol. This initiative keeps their memory alive and their legacy strong.”
Families interested in participating are asked to submit a photo and a brief written story—up to 250 words—about their veteran relative. Submissions should include the veteran’s name, military branch, and conflict served. Military photos are encouraged but not required.
Entries can be sent by email to veteransday@sgop.ilga.gov by November 8, 2024, or mailed to Veterans Day Wall, 110 D Statehouse, Springfield, IL 62706. For more information, people may call (217) 782-1154.
“Each story featured in the display pays tribute to real American heroes,” Wilcox added. “It stands as a powerful reminder of the enduring importance of serving our country.”
Wilcox was elected as a Republican to represent Illinois' 32nd Senate District in 2018, succeeding Pamela Althoff.
