Savannah Dallmann, a Special Education major from Crystal Lake, Illinois, is serving as a student teacher for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater during the spring 2025 semester. She is working in the Special Education programs at Algonquin Road School within the Fox River Grove SD 3 school district through January 2026.

Dallmann is part of UW-Whitewater's College of Education and Professional Studies. Student teaching marks the final step before candidates earn their degree and teaching license. This fall, 179 UW-Whitewater students began placements in school districts across the region.

Throughout the semester, UW-Whitewater will collaborate with 223 cooperating teachers at 175 schools in 117 districts. Student teachers support cooperating teachers with lesson planning, instruction, and assessment. Additionally, 42 teacher candidates have been hired as student teaching interns under the Department of Public Instruction's Wisconsin Improvement Program (WIP). These interns are licensed by DPI to teach up to half of each day independently and receive a stipend for their work.

UW-Whitewater licenses more teachers than any other institution in Wisconsin. The university was founded in 1868 with a mission to educate teachers. More information about UW-Whitewater’s College of Education and Professional Studies can be found at uww.edu/coeps.
