Ella Conlon of Crystal Lake has been selected to join the Undergraduate Certificate in Sales Excellence Program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Conlon, a sophomore majoring in accounting, is among 47 new inductees representing nine majors and four colleges.
The program, offered by the Center for Sales Excellence, is open to all students at the university who submit a resume, a statement of interest, and meet a minimum GPA requirement. After acceptance, students take courses taught by sales and marketing faculty in the College of Business.
"We're excited to welcome one of our largest and most motivated groups yet," said Chad Mardesen, interim director of the Center for Sales Excellence and associate professor of practice in marketing. "Most of these students are sophomores, which gives them more time to take advantage of the program, from internships and networking with partner companies to participating in our events."
Nearly all program participants secure employment before graduation. Recent employers of graduates include Dell, Deloitte, Gallup, HubSpot, Mutual of Omaha, Oracle, Union Pacific, and Walt Disney Company. Corporate partners met with the new inductees before the recent induction ceremony to discuss opportunities and internships.
Founded in 2013, the Center for Sales Excellence has been recognized by the Sales Education Foundation as a top university program for professional sales education each year since 2014. Students participate in national and international sales competitions and work with corporate partners for practical experience.
