The Johnsburg Village Board decided further discussions are needed regarding a request to lift a restriction on rentals.
The Johnsburg Village Board called for more discussion regarding a request for an ordinance amendment that would eliminate restrictions on rental units during its Jan. 19 meeting.
GWF Partners had requested that the rental unit restrictions be lifted in the Remington Grove subdivision. Should the amendment pass, it would allow the facility in question to be rented out.
Jeff Brown, who was representing GWF Partners, said that this will also put the property in line with similar townhomes without restrictions.
The board asked if there were plans to build additional homes in the area and it was noted that the economic climate would be the deciding factor. Brown said that the inability to rent the units in the area is detrimental to the continued development.
The board also asked that if properties were to be rented out, would GWF Partners keep ownership of the property. Brown said that would be dependent on what would make the property successful, whether it is developed by the company or sold to another to carry that out. He said that this set of townhomes is the only one to his knowledge that has the rental restriction in place.
The board decided to continue deliberations on this matter at a future meeting.
