Three beekeeping courses land at McHenry County College

McHenry County College is offering three classes through its Continuing Education Department on bees and beekeeping this spring.

The first class is called "Beekeeping 101" and will teach students about bee biology, beekeeping and how to get bees. The class is taking place 7-9:30 p.m. on Mondays during the month of February. The cost is $59.


Three beekeeping courses land at McHenry County College

The second class is "Seven Ways to Raise a Queen," which will focus on the growing demand for locally raised queen bees and how to raise them using seven steps to keeping them healthy. The class will be 7-9:30 p.m. Monday, March 6, and costs $22.

The final class is a beekeeping field study that will allow students to receive a hands-on experience with bees -- including installing, manipulating and inspecting bee colonies. The class will be 10 a.m.-noon April 15 and April 22. The cost is $59.
