Cary Community Consolidated School District 26 students suspended 42 times in a single school year

Cary Community Consolidated School District 26 reported 42 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 42 students during the year. That equates to 1.7 percent of the 2,429 students enrolled.

Of the 34 in-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 32 incidents. There were one incidents of violence that caused physical injury. For 29 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes five incidents. There were two incidents of violence that caused physical injury. For four incidents, students were suspended for 5-10 days.
