Johnsburg Community Unit School District 12 students suspended 23 times in a single school year

Johnsburg Community Unit School District 12 reported 23 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 23 students during the year. That equates to 1.2 percent of the 1,903 students enrolled.

Of the 15 in-school suspensions, all were given to boys.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for tobacco. The category includes eight incidents. There were five incidents of violence without physical injury. For nine incidents, students were suspended for 1-3 days.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes three incidents. There were three incidents of drugs. For four incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
