Huntley Community School District 158 issued the following announcement on Dec. 26.

Huntley High School’s Red Raiders VEX Robotics team captured a number of accolades at the school’s inaugural home tournament December 15, with a showing strong enough to earn a bid to state competition.

Huntley’s Team 158C went undefeated during qualifying and was seeded 1st in the tournament bracket, which included 28 teams from eight schools. Team 158C’s performance earned Huntley’s first-ever bye in the first round of the single-elimination bracket tournament.

In addition to four HHS teams, competitors included teams from Jacobs High School, Lake Park High School, Lyons Township High School, Niles North High School, Seneca High School, Stevenson High School and Winston Campus Jr. High School in Palatine.

In addition, Huntley’s Team 158B took home the Excellence Award, which is awarded to the top all-around team. That award qualified them a bid for the state tournament. They will join our Team 158H at the state tournament February 23, 2019. Additional HHS teams will have a chance to qualify for state at upcoming competitions January 5 at Glenbrook South and in Evanston on January 19.

“We had an amazing day,” said Red Raider Robotics sponsor Amanda Henk. “Two of our HHS teams made history.”
