HUNTLEY COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT 158: Huntley 158 Welcomes New Campus Resource Officers

Huntley Community School District 158 issued the following announcement on June 10.

Huntley 158 is pleased to introduce the new Campus Resource Officers who will be serving our schools on the Reed Road and Square Barn Road Campuses beginning in fall 2019.

Sarah Barham, Lake in the Hills Police Department (Reed Road Campus)

Sarah Barham has been a patrol officer for 5 ½ years. She started her career in Law Enforcement in September of 2013 with the Village of Cary. Officer Barham was hired by the Village of Lake in the Hills in June of 2017. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement and Spanish from Western Illinois University.

She has dedicated a significant portion of her career to educating the community. Some examples of this include serving as an advisor to the Lake in the Hills Explorer’s Post, teaching the Teen Safety Series, and being a member of Peer Jury. Sarah is looking forward to being a member of the District 158 team.

Andrew Dykstra, Algonquin Police Department (Square Barn Road Campus)

Andrew Dykstra has served as a Police Officer for the Algonquin Police Department since March 2006. Andrew is a graduate of Western Illinois University and served in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant. He has worked in the Patrol and the Traffic Unit and has dedicated time to improve the Department’s Liquor, Tobacco and Gaming Unit, and is a Field Training Officer, Acting Officer in Charge and member of the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team.

Officer Dykstra has distinguished himself during his career and has been nominated for Kane County Officer of the Year in 2007 and McHenry County Officer of the Year in 2016. Outside of work Officer Dykstra is a resident within the District and spends as much time as he can outdoors with his school-age children, landscaping, working out, or working on cars.

About Our Campus Resource Officers

The District announced in December 2018 our plans to add CROs to serve the Reed Road and Square Barn Road Campuses. Since that time the District has worked with our law enforcement partners to finalize arrangements and work through the process of identifying officers to fill these important, specialized positions.

The new positions are modeled on the school resource officer position that has been successfully housed at Huntley High School in partnership with the Huntley Police Department for nearly 20 years. One police officer will be housed at each of the District’s two middle schools, Marlowe and Heineman, but will be focused on serving the safety, security, educational, legal, and relationship-building needs of the entire campus, including elementary schools.

Officer Ryan Gregorio has become a familiar face at Huntley High School, where he serves as School Resource Officer. In addition to HHS, Gregorio supports neighboring Leggee Elementary School with safety and security matters, education, and support.
