HUNTLEY COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT 158: Daily Herald: Schools, Community Coming Together to Combat Vaping

Vaping

Huntley Community School District 158 issued the following announcement on Aug. 20.

Marlowe Middle School Principal Tony Venetico spoke to the Daily Herald about ongoing efforts by schools and the community to curb the vaping epidemic that is affecting young people throughout the country.

“A lot of school districts have chosen to respond in a punitive way. We’ve taken the educational response,” Venetico told the newspaper.

In addition to a Parent University presentation on vaping, Marlowe brought in experts from the community to give presentations to students last year.

“Because of the education, we are seeing a larger increase of other students reporting people who are using or who have a device, out of concern,” he said.

The article also includes insights from law enforcement, drug prevention, and health care experts.
