Hired blocks

Woodstock Community Unit School District 200 issued the following announcement on Feb 26.

The Woodstock Community Unit School District 200 Board of Education hired a former Woodstock City Council member and former District 200 supervisor to replace the district’s longtime chief financial officer who is retiring June 30.

Julie Dillon, a certified public accountant, is currently the chief school business officer for Northern Suburban Special Education District in Highland Park where she has worked for two years. In addition to her prior experience in District 200 where she was the payroll supervisor for seven years, Dillon has been an accounting leader in the private sector with companies such as Southwest Bell Communications, Motorola and Baxter Healthcare Corp. “I feel so much pride and excitement about everything that’s happening in District 200.

My kids went to these schools so it’s a really good feeling to come back. It feels just like home,” she said. Dillon, who earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Loyola University and a master’s degree from North Park University, served on the Woodstock City Council from 2005 to 2015 and has worked as an adjunct faculty member at Elgin Community College. “We are very excited to bring Julie Dillon back to District 200. Julie is well respected in our district and has gained great experience leading a school district financial department in the last few years,” Superintendent Mike Moan said. “Julie's experience in school finance along with her ability to relate to people and her high integrity made her our top candidate.

Julie lives in Woodstock and is invested in our community and District 200. We look forward to her starting on July 1.” Dillon will replace CFO Risa Hanson, who has led the district’s business & finance department for more than 17 years and worked for District 200 for 21 years.

Hanson and her team have been awarded the Certificate of Excellence by the Association of Business Officials International during each of those years. On Feb. 23, Dillon and the Board of Education agreed to an annual salary of $162,000 for the CFO position to oversee the District’s finances.
