Members of the Board of Education for Nippersink School District 2 received updates from various committees within the district on recent activities.

Included in the updates was results of a recent community survey sent out by the communications committee.

"So just wanted to thank everyone who participated in the questionnaire and especially wanted to tell the people who showed interest in participating in the communication team will be reaching out. Won't be immediately, but we will be getting back to everyone who showed interest and the communication team. So thank you to everyone who did participate," Robin Taylor, a school board member, said during an October 26th meeting that was posted on YouTube.

Taylor said nearly 500 responded to the survey, and the results showed that the people preferred email communication more than anything, with text coming in second. Other results showed about 80% of respondents had children currently enrolled in the district, with about 80% satisfaction with the district and over 80% satisfied district communication. There was also some interest from the community about joining the communication team.

Meanwhile the curriculum committee talked about how the accelerated math program has been a success so far and that they are considering adding an accelerated reading program too. Committee members also discussed the Spanish curriculum at length. It is currently 30 minutes once a week, but the committee wants to see if they can enhance and enrich the language curriculum to better students’ learning.

The buildings and grounds committee did not have full official report to present. Members had postponed their meeting because they were waiting on some data before making any decisions. Members told the board they would be meeting to talk about the data received in the following week. They added any roofing decisions would not start or be considered before the summer of 2023.
