Report: Marengo-Union Elementary spent $9,437 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Marengo-Union Elementary Community School District 165 is up 14 percent from five years ago, according to a McHenry Times analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Mchenry County school district spent $8,297 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $9,437 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 1121 to 1002.

Marengo-Union Elementary's spending in 2016-17 was 27 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
