Former state school employee Schiltz paid in $29K to teachers' pension fund, could collect $975K in retirement

Former state school employee Donna Schiltz, who retired in January 2017, saved $28,914 toward a pension over 12 years working for public schools, Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Schiltz would collect as much as $974,706, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes McHenry Times.

The projection assumes Schiltz received $20,487 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 2 years of retirement, Schiltz will have already received $41,589 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the teachers' pension fund.
