CRYSTAL LAKE COMMUNITY CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT 47: Glacier Ridge PTA Receives National Recognition

Honorroll

Crystal Lake Community Consolidated School District 47 recently issued the following announcement.

National PTA has recognized Glacier Ridge Elementary School and the Glacier Ridge PTA as a 2019-2021 School of Excellence for their accomplishments in building a strong, effective family-school partnership that is enriching the educational experience and overall well-being for all students.

“When families and schools work together, students do better in school and schools improve,” said Leslie Boggs, president of National PTA. “Glacier Ridge Elementary School and the Glacier Ridge PTA have worked hard to strengthen their family-school partnership and their efforts are making a positive impact on student success and school improvement. We are pleased to recognize them as a 2019-2021 School of Excellence.”

National PTA’s School of Excellence program supports and celebrates schools and PTAs that make a year-long commitment to improving family-school partnerships. Throughout the year, the schools and PTAs collect feedback from their school communities and create and implement plans of action to make a difference for every child. Through the School of Excellence program, PTAs and families become key partners in decision-making and school improvement efforts.

Glacier Ridge Elementary School and the Glacier Ridge PTA are one of only 326 PTAs and schools nationwide to be designated a 2019-2021 School of Excellence.

“Glacier Ridge Elementary School and the Glacier Ridge PTA have created a partnership that is truly something to celebrate,” said Debbie Stewart, PTA vice president. “This group of parents and school staff are dedicated to the betterment of the educational experience and social enjoyment for the students and Glacier Ridge community.”

To promote family engagement, the Glacier Ridge PTA hosts the school’s annual fun run, after-school clubs, and evening events for families, such as Glacier Ridge Reads, skate night, movie night, school dances and special programs, such as last year’s presentation on internet safety.

"Together with our PTA we strive to create a community that is truly about family,” noted John Jacobsen, principal. “Our partnership has not only assisted in providing resources, events and opportunities for our students and families; it has also helped promote social/emotional values and a sense of shared responsibility among our school community.”

To celebrate their achievements, National PTA presented Glacier Ridge Elementary School and the Glacier Ridge PTA with a certificate and a National PTA School of Excellence banner to hang in their school.
