Huntley Community School District 158 issued the following announcement on Nov. 25.
Students from Mrs. Conrad’s 2nd-grade are being recognized for their participation in a world record-setting cup stacking event. On November 14, 20 students worked to strengthen their stacking skills simultaneously with more than 638,000 others worldwide to break the record for the most people sport stacking at multiple locations in one day. The verified total of 638,668 stackers has unofficially broken the record that was set during last year’s Stack Up! Day event.
The class was selected to participate based on their positive behaviors and teamwork throughout the year.
“Oh my gosh, they were so excited,” said Kristine Schmicker, PE teacher. “They’ve been talking about it for a month now.”
Every student participant will receive a certificate and a sticker to commemorate the event.
Huntley 158 elementary PE classes include cup stacking units, which help develop hand-eye coordination, determination, and goal-setting, among other benefits.
