Harvard Community Unit School District 50 issued the following announcement on March 5.
Harvard High School held two blood drives this school year in collaboration with the Rock River Valley Blood Center.
On November 11, 2019, students donated 53 units of blood. Then on February 25, 2020, students gave 43 units of blood.
Rock River Valley Blood Center reports that the mobile blood drive saved 306 lives.
The average adult has 8 – 12 pints of blood traveling all over his or her body through the heart, lungs, arteries, veins, and capillaries. Blood is an essential part of our bodies that transports oxygen, nutrients, and metabolic waste.
