Cost of college went up for all students at the Cosmetology & Spa Academy

Tuition and fees rose 11.1 percent for 2018-19 at the Cosmetology & Spa Academy, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois students paid $20,000 to attend the private for-profit school this year – $2,000 more than the $18,000 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 82 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 105 students received grants or scholarships totaling $496,091 and 137 students took out student loans totaling more than $1 million.

Including all undergraduates (277), 183 students used grants or scholarships totaling $785,757, and 204 students took out $1.5 million in federal student loans.
