Evidence presented at trial showed that on February 11, 2022, at approximately 9:30 PM, officers from the Algonquin Police Department were dispatched to a residence in Algonquin following a report of domestic battery. On arrival, officers met with Peter Garcia and the victim. During an argument, Garcia applied pressure to the victim’s neck, causing her to be unable to breathe. Officer Hopper from the Algonquin Police Department observed redness on the victim’s neck, consistent with her statements regarding Garcia’s actions.
