Algonquin Historic Commission workshop meeting Saturday
The Algonquin Historic Commission will hold its second workshop meeting of the month on Oct. 24, 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Historic Village Hall, 2 S. Main Street. The agenda will cover a variety of administrative tasks -- including filing, sorting research, accessioning -- as well as work on any current projects.

Algonquin Police to boost patrols targeting drunk drivers on Halloween
The Algonquin Police Department said it will have special patrols on the roads this Halloween as part of its "Drive Sober of Get Pulled Over" campaign, aimed at discouraging drunk driving. “Driving while alcohol- or drug-impaired is deadly, it is illegal, and it will get you pulled over and arrested this Halloween,” Sgt. Robert Salazar said.
