Dylan Wetzel-Connor, a 26-year-old man from McHenry, Illinois, was sentenced to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on July 11, 2024. Wetzel-Connor pled guilty to Unlawful Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, a Class 1 felony, and Aggravated Battery, a Class 2 felony. The sentence was handed down by the Honorable Judge Mark Gerhardt.

On November 24, 2023, Samuel Spann purchased over $300 worth of merchandise from the Crystal Lake Walmart. Spann left the store with the receipt and merchandise, only to return minutes later with just the receipt. He then selected the same items he had just purchased and returned them using the receipt. The entire incident was captured on Walmart surveillance video, which was recovered by the Crystal Lake Police Department and used to identify and apprehend Spann.
